Mission

THE MISSION of The Implantable Insulin Pump Foundation is to encourage and support the development of an improved and technologically modern implantable insulin pump that is available in the United States (and throughout the world) and to insure that this remarkable diabetes management solution is affordable and readily available for any T1D who wants to have it.

The few of us who live with T1D and have an Implantable Insulin Pump have experienced a far better life than we know on Subcutaneous Insulin delivery.

We understand the burden of T1D and we have all experienced a profound reduction in that burden.

As remarkably better our lives are with the current Implantable Insulin Pump (there is only one at this time) the pump itself is in need of modernization (it is based on quite old technology and manufacturing process).

Our mission is to support the development of a technologically modern Implantable Insulin Pump that is affordable and available to any T1D who chooses to have one.

We will serve this mission by:

• Encouraging and supporting the development, production and distribution of next-generation
implantable insulin pumps. We will do this by providing scientific information, patient
testimonials and other information to potential manufacturers of implantable insulin pumps
and by our efforts to raise donations to help to defray some of the costs of developing and
refining the implantable insulin pump.
• Encouraging and supporting continued scientific research into the short and long-term benefits of this
technology. We will do this by providing information and testimonials to clinicians and
researchers. We will also pursue fund raising activities in order to be able to help defray the
costs of performing this research.
• Encouraging and supporting professional awareness and the development of knowledge about
the optimal use of this technology. We will do this by collecting information from the world’s
leading clinicians and scientists and make this information available to interested clinicians.
• Advancing patient and public awareness and education concerning the Implantable Insulin
Pump. We will do this by promoting the availability of scientific information, patient
testimonials and current developments.
• Supporting the effort to attain regulatory approval and third-party reimbursement for the Implantable Insulin Pump.
We will do this by helping to focus the attention of manufacturers, researchers, clinicians and patients on the
need for high quality, peer reviewed, published research, and the need to work cooperatively
with all government organizations to attain this goal.
