THE MISSION of The Implantable Insulin Pump Foundation is to encourage and support the development of an improved and technologically modern implantable insulin pump and to insure that this remarkable diabetes management solution is affordable and readily available for any T1D who wants to have it.
OUR MOTIVATION to fulfill this mission is derived from several sources.
Our Extensive Personal Experience: We truly live far better lives because of the Implantable Insulin Pump – no question about it! So much better, in fact, that we willingly accept the shortcomings of the present outdated device – shortcomings that can be resolved by current technology.
The Experience of Our Doctors: Our doctors have seen our lives dramatically improve after we receive our implantable insulin pumps. They also understand the scientific and medical reasons behind how and why the Implantable Insulin Pump is a far superior method of delivering insulin.
Decades of Research: Our experience and our doctors experience is not surprising! Decades of research and an understanding of the physiology of diabetes and insulin delivery tell us that we should have a better life because we have an implantable insulin pump – just as we do.
A Need For Improvement: We love the current implantable insulin pump but it is simply not good enough. We embrace it in spite of its considerable shortcomings and the difficulties, caused by those shortcomings, that we must endure. We do so because the end result is so dramatically better than living with subcutaneous insulin. A modern, technologically advanced, implantable insulin pump will solve the important shortcomings of the pump we now have, will make it broadly available and, we believe, will make it more affordable.
Compassion for Others: Most importantly – we are not alone. There are millions more of us who live with the challenges of Type 1 Diabetes and who would benefit immensely from an improved, technologically modern, affordable implantable insulin pump.
How could we not passionately want to share this?
